Land of Bowling
Land of Bowling contain long and narrow synthetic or wooden lanes. The number of lanes inside a bowling alley is variable. The Inazawa Grand Bowl in Japan is the largest bowling alley in the world, having 116 lanes.
Some of the countries where bowling is famous both as a
sport and entertainment include England, USA, Finland, Australia, Sweden,
Denmark, Canada, Germany, Colombia, and Korea.
Make sure the ball lands right beside your slide ankle just
like it was when it was sitting on the floor. This is demonstrated in photos
below. A side note – when we go into full approach speed we won't actually land
the ball on the floor on the wrong side of the foul line, but that's our goal
for now.
The ball is then funneled onto a metal track. It ascends before being dropped straight down onto a hidden conveyor belt, located underneath the lane, with enough momentum to carry it down the 60-foot-long lane to the ball return.
While bowling alleys can be found all across the country and
the world, bowling remains most popular in the U.S. in the upper Midwest,
specifically the Great Lakes region.
98-year-old Joseph Gentiluomo invented the modern
bowling ball, and rolled the first ball at the Halfmoon bowling alley since it
closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A British anthropologist, Sir Flinders Petrie, discovered in
the 1930's a collection of objects in a child's grave in Egypt that appeared to
him to be used for a crude form of bowling. If he was correct, then bowling
traces its ancestry to 3200 BC.
Start your stance with the ball at a comfortable height in
front of the ball-side shoulder and not in front of your body. A person
standing directly behind your shoulder should see just a bit of the ball. Your
forearm should point like an arrow to your target.
A game of bowling consists of ten frames. In each frame, the
bowler will have two chances to knock down as many pins as possible with their
bowling ball. In games with more than one bowler, as is common, every bowler
will take their frame in a predetermined order before the next frame begins.
